Bobcats #1 For DT
So far,Texas State's satellite camps have been action packed and new targets are receiving offers. The latest is defensive tackle Michael Rios of Carter-Riverside High School. The 6'3" 280lb big man is now up to three offers. Joining the Bobcats are UTEP and Louisiana Tech.
Rios is putting in the effort through the camp circuit and it paid off after Texas State's camp on Wednesday. "I was very happy with the offer. I've been looking at Texas State for quite a long time now. I've known about them since my sophomore year. I've been to campus one time. My sophomore year we went with a boys and girls club that I was a part of," said Rios. He still has plans to attend a Kansas and Texas A&M camp coming up. As for the 'Cats, the offer was a pleasant surprise that really left a high mark on Rios. What makes his recruitment that more interesting is that Rios spoke with definite objectivity as to who his #1 school is right now and when he plans on deciding. "They're (Texas State) definitely my top school right now. Louisiana Tech 2nd, and UTEP is 3rd. I'll be ready to make a decision in the next 2-3 weeks. I'm pretty set on where I'm going to go." His solid frame projects him as a run stopping defensive tackle. By no means does that mean he can't get to the QB. As a junior he recorded 9 sacks and blocked 5 field goals too. For his play he earned 1st Team All District 6-4A for the Eagles.
