Game Balls: Arkansas State

The 'Cats lost on the road to Arkansas State this past week. Although the final score wasn't great, there were two performers that left everything they had in Jonesboro.

1. Robert Lowe

Rob Lowe showed he can be effective in the passing game as well as the run. This is something Texas State will need going forward, getting every all purpose yard possible out of their backs. Last Saturday he put up 129 total yards, 86 rushing and 43 receiving on 4 catches. If he wants to take this young offense to a bowl game, he'll have to keep pushing his threat in both the rushing and receiving game.

2. David Mayo

He's back. David Mayo finally graced the field again ending 4th in total game tackles. He still leads the Sun Belt Conference in interceptions, and had another Saturday night. Mayo accounted for Texas State's lone takeaway. His 9 tackles were behind McMiller's 13, and showed they can both be effective no matter what position they play in the second line. If only they could have held Arkansas State to less than 300 yards rushing, Mayo and McMiller would have been given much more credit.
