Recruiting Quick Hits
Copa is a mammoth Offensive tackle for the Chaparrals. He currently holds offers from Texas State, North Texas, Washington State, San Diego State, and New Mexico. Copa says that his top 3 in no order include the Bobcats as well as the out of state schools Washington State and SDSU. He also is gaining interest from Oklahoma St and Fresno St. He currently hears the most from San Diego St and Fresno St and plans to visit San Diego St and Washington St in December some time. That doesn't mean that the big guy isn't hearing from TXST. He said that he talks to the coaching staff once a week on average, but they are giving him space so he can focus on playoffs. He visited San Marcos on a unofficial visit for the Wyoming game. Some things Copa is looking for in a program include a good Business school and a great school environment. He says that staying close to home would help, but isn't necessary. He doesn't have a set schedule on when he will make an announcement. Justin Hervey- RB- West Brook Sr. HS -5'10" 180
The 4.4 speedster out of Beaumont, TX says "recruiting is going good." He holds offers from Utah State, Utah, Arkansas St, UH, Texas State, and New Mexico. Also has interest from Boise St, Colorado St, and Fresno St. Hervey says that he hasn't heard from TX ST coaches in awhile, but still gets mail from them. The Texas State recruiting staff just really wants him to get on campus. He currently has NO favorites and distance is a non factor. His first official visit is taking place Dec. 1st when he travels to Utah. He's looking for a school where he has a great relationship with the coaching staff and has a good computer science program. Hervey compares his game to LaMichael James where they both don't juke a lot, but when they make people miss nobody is going to catch them. Hervey's stats on the year were 1500+ yards and 19 tds. Jonathan Johnson- OLB- Manor HS 6'1" 205
The OLB ended his season 9-2 with a loss in the first round of playoffs. Johnson has offers from TXST, New Mexico State, and Northern Colorado. "I've been in contact with Coach Washington and I'm going to wait until signing day to decide where I'm going." said Johnson. Keeping mum on who he's leaning on, Johnson would be a great addition to the Bobcats. He has a quick ability to take down the opposing players and looks for a school that has a coaching staff that is willing to help him learn and grow as a player. "I want a team that works hard together and watches each other's backs like a brotherhood," said Johnson, "and coaches that want to help you learn more about your abilities."
