Bobcats Dominate UC Riverside

Bobcats Dominate UC Riverside

The Bobcats, took an early 3-1 lead in the second inning, eventually making it a 6 run lead, and never looked back winning 7-5 on Sunday afternoon.

Coming off of a game the day before, where it went to extra innings, the Bobcats decided to go ahead and make sure they secured the victory early and completed the sweep of UC Riverside. Both previous games had been a little closer being within at least 2 runs of each other, however this one was bit more lopsided and proved to put an exclamation mark on the Bobcats domination of the Highlanders.

Austen Williams has started off his Junior Campaign 2-0 and finished with seven strike outs through six innings, only giving up two hits and one run on the day. Williams did his part to keep the Highlanders out of it early and allow the Bobcats to pile up some runs before leaving the game.

"I was locating my fast ball really well and was able to keep them guessing with my off-speed pitches to force a lot of ground balls and allow my defense to make some great plays." Williams said about his performance Sunday afternoon.

UC Riverside was able to out hit the Bobcats 10-7 by the end of the game, however four of those came in the final inning resulting in three runs in a final effort to climb out of a five run deficit.

Tyler Pearson was able to reach at least first base every time up to bat today, while able to touch all of them once early in the game. He also was the only Bobcat to record more than one hit for the day. The Bobcats where led by Tanner Hill with two RBI's off of his lone hit.

This win for Texas State makes them 5-2 overall and they'll resume their strong start to 2014 campaign this Tuesday at Bobcat Ballpark. There is no announcement yet as to who will start at pitcher for the Bobcats against A&M Corpus Christi however the announcement should be Monday afternoon. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. Recommended Stories
