Diamon Cannon runs a 4.6 flat and loves to use that speed to close space and deliver big hits on opposing ball carriers. Texas State will look to use their resources to snag quite a prospect at a Linebacker/Safety Hybrid position.

Diamon Cannon is currently a Junior at Killeen Shoemaker HS, already schools are looking to secure his commitment and bring speed and quality tackling to their defense for 2015. At Texas State's Junior Day Cannon was listed at 6'1 and 1/2 210 lbs.

Cannon is quite an athlete coming from the linebacker position, making heads turn as he blazes through and around would be blockers to deliver punishing hits on the ball carrier.

"I am a linebacker who plays like a drop down safety, but i can also come off the edge really well and wreak havoc in the backfield," said Cannon when asked about his style of play. "Where ever the ball is, is where i like to be."

In his Junior season Diamon recorded 62 tackles, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, and three sacks, on his way to being awarded second team All-District. Schools such as Arkansas, Baylor, UTSA, Texas, Oklahoma, and even Yale and Princeton have shown interest so far, clearly showing he is not just an athlete he is an immensely smart player.

"Picking a school close to home definitely would be nice, but most of all i just want to go to a program that will put me in a position to succeed," Cannon said about what he is looking for in his decision.

Texas State has not officially given an offer, however coach Kyle Tatum has been in very good contact with Cannon since last season. Texas State is listed as one of his favorites to attend in 2015 however it will be a tough battle for a linebacker with many great qualities.
