TXST Offers Offensive Tackle

Every year the Lone Star State is home to some of the biggest beef throughout the high school ranks nationally. You can add this O-line prospect to that list and he now has a Texas State offer.

Evan Curl is a 6'5" 285lb offensive tackle from Flower Mound High School and programs are starting to take notice of the big lineman. Texas State O-line Coach Brad Bedell started recruiting him and in a hurry had some good news for him.

"I got offered on last Friday. It was kind of out of the blue. I started talking to Coach Bedell and he told me how they saw my film," said Curl.

Texas State joins North Texas and Toledo as his current offers. Texas Tech, California, and UTSA are three programs who have been showing strong interest as of late. All three are looking to get him on their campuses later this spring.

Evan participated in the Nike Football Training Camp this past weekend, and now he and his family will be logging some serious miles. That doesn't include trips already made to Oklahoma State and Kansas State. He'll squeeze in a visit to UNT this weekend too and has planned to fly out to Cal the following weekend. Curl is definitely doing his part to see what these programs have to offer.

As for the Bobcats, Evan, is doing what he can to learn more about the program and is weighing all of his options.

"It's (Texas State) new to me. It's really kind of cool for me to look into competition wise. It means a lot to me. An offer is an offer," said Curl.

He'll continue to take his unofficial visits and go through his own spring ball, then a couple of college camps over the summer and identify his top 3 or 4 schools. Once he does that he'd like to take an official game day visit during the football season and get an up close and personal look of the final programs he's choosing from.

Before the spring is over, don't be surprised at all to see Curl start racking up offers. Getting in early never hurts a program like Texas State and the Bobcats do have one more slight advantage to their hand.

"I do like how they're in state. Far enough from Dallas, where you're on your own, but close enough to come home for the weekend if you want," said Curl.
