Lucky #7 Is In
Jacob Rowland exploded onto the Texas State recruiting radar while attending camp in June. He was one of the prospects that stood out and impressed the staff. So much so that it was only a few days later that Texas State extended an offer. Since the camp in June, Rowland took an unofficial on July 17th and was able to see the campus and everything San Marcos has to offer. "I went down to the camp, I performed there. They told me that I would get the phone call and it's where I got my offer. I went down on the 17th of July and I was able to see a lot of things that I didn't get to at camp. I did some research into the school. I did my homework and they have the major I was thinking about going into, construction management. It turned out that I have a family member that went there, he played football. I have family and friends in the area. I love the town of San Marcos," said Rowland. Jacob told BobcatIllustrated that he had his decision made on Tuesday, but after thinking about it overnight and the rest of the Wednesday, he knew it was time to make the call. "Around 6:30pm I made the call and talked to staff. I did it over the phone. I talked to the O-line Coach first and he handed the phone to Coach Fran. He asked me if I was ready to be a Bobcat and was very excited. He was glad they we're getting a chance to coach me. He was happy for me and glad that I'm joining the Bobcat family. He wants me to come down and take an official visit during the fall. I've been weighing the pros and cons of it, I just really knew it was yesterday that I really figured it out. It seemed like the best fit for me and I pulled the trigger today," said Rowland. Since we last spoke with Jacob, he's packed on nearly 10lbs of muscle and is hovering right around 300lbs. His 6'5" frame is also ideal for the O-line. He's been recruited to play primarily at guard but his first year on campus the staff would like for him to also play the tackle position if need be. Rowland is completely open to it and welcomes the ability to play multiple spots. Jacob is the first O-line commit of the 2015 class and the 7th overall. He chose Texas State over offers from Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe.
