On Monday, the staff put a call into Jace Sternberger and let him that they really wanted him to take a visit down to San Marcos. It had only been a few days before, that the staff reached out to him and let him know that he was now on their recruiting board.
"It was a surprise actually. The other day Coach English messaged me and said he liked my film. He said they were going to watch my film and they liked it as a staff. He called me on Monday morning and said we had to get down there," said Sternberger.
So that's exactly what Jace and his family did. Both of his parents and a brother made the trek with him down from Dallas. Sternberger plays for Kingfisher HS in OK, but has Texas ties with family in the DFW area and was already visiting family. They hopped in their car and showed up mid morning.
"The visit went really good. We got there and Coach English introduced me to the staff. Coach Vaughn introduced me to the defensive staff. It surpassed my expectations big time. We loved it down there, along with the atmosphere. I give the Texas State visit an 11 on a scale of 1-10," said Sternberger.
He got to speak with Head Coach Franchione and he let him know that whichever spot he feels more comfortable with, tight end or defensive end, they'd be happy to have him at either one. Jace hasn't given his future D1 position much thought, he's all for whichever he can do to help the team the quickest.
Look for Sternberger to have a decision after his season. With such a hectic fall schedule, he still hopes to squeeze in some visits and in all likelihood could use one of those officials on a return trip to San Marcos. With his Texas State offer, he now holds a total of 4 offers: Sam Houston State, New Mexico and South Dakota are the other three programs to extend.
Schools showing interest are Texas Tech, Missouri, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

It's been roughly two weeks, and not a full two weeks at that, since the staff has been on this out of state tight end. He visited campus on Wednesday and left with an offer.
